What’s the most common mistake people over 45 make when trying to lose weight?
(Nobody is working out in the right place... everyone needs to move their workout from whatever gym they're at & start doing it "In Tent City"... In-Tent-City is where all results are hidden, and to receive those results You HAVE to know how to get around "In-Tent-City", and you have to not be afraid to be "In-Tent-City")
Has anyone else in a Planet Fitness gym ever experienced their own personal version of "The Lunk Alert Story ...?"
You know when that siren blares and the light flashes because someone in the gym was apparently louder than someone else in the gym usually an employee thinks that they should have been...
Well intensity is a necessity for exercise progress and weight loss.
The problem is some folks feel that intensity comes from their mouth and not from the muscles that it is best serving.
Anyone remember Lou Ferrigno the original Incredible Hulk?
The Mr. Olympia competitor, the Mr. Universe, Lou Ferrigno who obviously just take one look at him Know something about training hard also was hard of hearing, But even with that auditory disability Big Lou knew in the gym what was the right and the wrong thing to do...
Here's what Lou Ferrigno once said about intensity and personal noise volume in the gym
Lou Ferrigno quote; "First you scream here (pointing to his head) then when it builds up you scream here (pointing to his heart) then when you can no longer hold it inside, you let it come out here (pointing to his mouth)."
Intensity is not ONLY about “No Pain, No Gain”…
Intensity is individually unique and yet universally valuable and oftentimes unbelievably misunderstood.
Intensity is not just about Pounds lifted, but also Volume of work achieved and amount of necessary Rest/downtime taken... So, 1-3 reps of heavy bench press, with nothing but 2min of downtime on your cellphone in-between sets won't cut it, but then again, neither will strolling down a walking path holding the hand of the person you love... If that gets your heart all fluttering and twitterpated, that's really just romance and hormones more than it is hard, Real deal working out.
Most folks are surprised to learn that ss you get older, you should, above all, strive to exercise 150 minutes per week with moderate-to-vigorous intensity aerobic workouts, And you can get an aerobic benefit working with resistance training which includes both weights machines and your own body weight, and at least two sessions of strength training (15-20 minutes per session), which together can boost both longevity and quality of life.
Now remember by boosting longevity there's zero science that proves there's a single thing that we can do to make ourselves live longer but there are 999 things that we can, and probably regularly do, to shorten our lifespan. So, approaching our exercise IN TENT CITY Maybe just the place that helps us to be all that we were meant to be.
