Biden announced on 4/15/23, an obviously taxing day for ALL Americans, Left or Right, Red or Blue.

Now its Nov 5, 2024...
Win, Lose or withdraw from the race, we've been running this election through our minds for a very long time... And it shows.

According to the California residential mental health treatment system, "AMFM", over 50% of respondents said they actually avoid election-related conversations, just to prevent Anxiety.

And Everyone knows the impact that prolonged Anxiety can have on our health, right?!?

Oh, you'd like to better understand what happens when Anxiety grows out of hand?

Here's what physically happens after a prolonged period of stress?
• Prolonged stress can cause many physical health issues, including, but not limited to:
CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM
High blood pressure, increased heart rate, heart palpitations, heart disease, and stroke

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Bronchial hyperresponsiveness, inflammation, airway constriction, shortness of breath, and rapid shallow breathing

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Weight gain or loss, ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome

IMMUNE SYSTEM
Compromised immune function, increased susceptibility to respiratory infections, and exacerbation of conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Low libido, erectile dysfunction, changes in menstrual cycles, trouble conceiving, and hormonal imbalance…

*Note: For all my fellow Boomers out there, just because we’re no longer needing our “Reproductive Sytem” for the purpose of “reproduction”, that doesn’t mean we don’t have other expectations from it… yes, you know what I mean.

And don't forget about the nuisance symptoms of Headaches, Muscle tension and pain, Trouble sleeping, and, don't forget about elevating your susceptibility to cancer.

Stress can also lead to psychological conditions such as mood disorders and anxiety disorders.

Is it really as serious as all that?!?

Consider this; In what is called a "cohort study" of 6,396,830 adults, (yes, you read that number correctly),the rate of hospitalization for acute cardiovascular disease was 17% higher in the 5 days following the last election compared with the same 5-day period 2 weeks prior.

So during an election cycle, taking care of ourselves first appears to not be our 6th sense, so here's where we revisit those 6 hacks to relax we touched on before.

Oh, and if you think it'll all just "magically" get better after the final vote is counted, revisit that 6 million person study...

*(2)Seek the ROUTINE: Reinforce your Self-care routine of Rest, Exercise, Healthier foods and Meditative Prayer.
*(3)ASK The Powerful Question: When distraught or disturbed by deatructive thoughts, Ak yourself "Is it True?"
*(4)Question the Power of ALCOHOL: Booze is best at amplifying feelings, and the feelings associated with Anxiety are strong enough without Alcohol's assistance.
*(5)A Digital-diet? Try It!: In recent memory, the happiest and most productive period of my life was the 13 months I watched ZERO Network news... Then Covid happened and they hooked me back in.
*(6)Get a Grip & then Let Go!: Grip & Squeeze your fists, then let gi before you let loose and hit/hurt something... It's called Progressive Muscle Relaxation, and it works!
