Coach's-Corner: What are the benefits of “Food-tracking” & how do you recommend doing it?

Last week we showed you how Keeping Score is what Winners do, but with Eating, keeping track AFTER it's already "in your" digestive tract, is just reporting on the Traffic Accident AFTER it happened, rather than doing what you can to prevent the snack-attack Train-wreck Beforehand.

So, "Food-Journaling" - ever given it a try?

I first dabbled with scribbling down my "dietary doing's and deeds" almost 40 years ago, in Southern California, as the First Man of my kind - I was THE Cromagnon Man of Jenny Craig.

A long, long, long-dam' time ago, good-ol' Coach-JiM here was the first of his kind; a Man maneuvering my way through a Woman's-world, as I was the FIRST Male weight loss Counselor/Class Instructor for the Jenny Craig weight loss program in Southern California... The land of warm beaches and hot bod's.

And so, I pushed a few envelopes here and there, and back then, I FULLY supported the Jenny Craig weight loss program because that was BEFORE all the Pre-packaged, had to buy a minimum amount of monthly pre-packaged/processed food supplies, etc...

But there was just one thing I bucked the system on - Food journaling... I had folks approach it Pro-Actively.

Oh, I believed in it, i just believed they had everyone doing it all wrong... And I've proven my approach to be the right one with 💯 % success ever since.

Yep, 💯 % success... here's how.

It's a waste of time, ink and paper to write down what you eat AFTER it's already in your body.

It's like someone describing to the police or the press what they just saw happen when the Train ran over the Truck that was stuck on the tracks - by then, the damage is already done.

If you want to change the outcome you need to affect the input... So, write down EVERYTHING you put into your Body, BEFORE it goes in.

Every meal, Every mouthful for God's sake, before you eat it, and THAT is Exactly why I've never had someone fail at weight loss using this system..

VERY few are committed enough and Brave enough to face that reality, because it takes away the "Oops, I wasn't even thinking, and I didn't realize what I was doing" justification-dilemma.

So, whenever you consume ANYTHING (Yes, healthy water included) you jot/write/put it down before you put it into You.

Healthy Breakfast? Jot it down and enjoy.

Healthy Lunch? Put it on paper before you put it in your mouth so you 💯 % Own it - the good, and/or, the bad.

But, if you are always 💯% of the time committed to journaling it before you ingest it, here's what it does for you...

You see a food, you think about it, you think about it and you log it in your system (digital or paper doesn't matter), you write it down and you're reading it, you're reading it means you're thinking about it... No More Mindless Eating, ever Again!.

You control the consumption and you own the outcome...

THAT is healthy, authentic success.

Imagine it; you see a triple chocolate muffin, you think about a triple chocolate muffin, you write “I'm gunna eat a triple chocolate muffin”, you once again read about you eating the triple chocolate muffin, then you put down the pen or phone, and you can eat whatever you want to... Or you can scribble/erase it cuz you thought enough about it that you changed your mind and your priorities, BUT you can't delete it after you choose to eat it.

Try this approach if you are SERIOUSLY serious about trusting yourself to become someone new... It might be your first time as this new person, but I trust you with it, and so should you.
